A call for solidarity with detained Turkish journalists Ahmet Sik and Nedim Sener was held on Istanbul´s Istiklal street on March 3rd.

As this is my first blog post at paroli magazine, I should give you a short introduction: I´m a photographer doing personal projects in Istanbul. I´ve been here for two weeks now, but I got to know this marvellous city on some earlier occasions. I see this blog as a kind of diary, I will post the things I encounter during my stay here, with the occasional digression to Turkish politics or reflections on issues of Turkish life. But, as I am a photographer, you will mainly see photos here.

I always try to give links or recommend books or articles for you to find further, more detailed information than the one I can give you on this blog. Maybe you should see this blog as a starting point of your reading, if you are interested in Istanbul or Turkish life.

But let´s talk business now: last saturday a call for solidarity with detained Turkish journalists Ahmed Sik and Nedim Sener was held on Istanbul´s famous Istiklal street, the commercial center of the city. These two men stand as an example for more than 100 journalists detained for doing their work in this country. Both have been working on the OdaTV Case and made critical remarks about Turkey´s ruling Justice and Development party (AKP) and face accusations like being involved in a plot to overthrow the government.
